JAMMU, June 6: J&K Pradesh Congress OBC Cell Chairman Suresh Dogra took complete hair cut along with a few other activists during protest outside Raj Bhawan here today.
They were protesting against non-implementation of Mandal Commission Report in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. They alleged that BJP Govt and UT Administration has failed to address the issues of Other Backward Classes.
A large number of OBC Department/ Cell activists of Pradesh Congress Committee assembled outside LG’s residence ay Panjtirthi Jammu and staged a peaceful protest demonstration there. Chairman of the wing Suresh Dogra (Adv) took complete hair cut in protest against Government for non-fulfilment of the demands of OBC community.
They were demanding legal and constitutional rights to the OBC community and also presented a memorandum to the office of LG Manoj Sinha, comprising of charter of demands.
The main demands projected in the memorandum included implementation of Mandal Commission report, which guarantees 27% reservation to the OBC peoples; change of nomenclature from OSC to OBC; permanent OBC certificate without its renewable after a stipulated time; reservation in promotion for OBCs, inclusion of column in census report of 2021-2022 for the said community and enhancement of creamy layer from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
The prominent who joined the protest included PL Mehra, Nageshwar Narayan, Vijay Verma, Jagdish Kashyap, Raj Kumar Khanmotra, Aditya Dogra, Raj Kumar Sodhi, Sunil Bedi, Vikas Mehra, Ajay Mehra, Surinder Sodhi, Ravi Kumar, Varun Kumar, Parveen Basotra, Sunny Mehra , Rahul Sandhu, Tarsem Lal, Lucky and others.
