JAMMU, Jan 28: Charging the Congress of misleading the people on Article 370, Balbir Ram Rattan, spokesperson, Jammu and Kashmir BJP, today said that leaders of Congress are making failed attempts to regain the lost trust of the people through misrepresentation of well established facts and building a narrative that supports the anti-national forces and enemy nations.
He said that it would be better if Congress leaders utilise their time and energy on educating the people about the benefits of repealing the Article 370.
He was reacting to the statement of Jammu Rural district Congress Committee, president that ‘ after abrogation of Article 370 the situation has gone from bad to worst with the common man feeling choked due to anti-people policies of the BJP Government’.
Balbir said that such allegations are false, misleading and far beyond the truth.
He said that after the abrogation of Article 370, every region and every section has got justice, discrimination with Jammu is a thing of the past and political monopoly of few families is fast eroding. He said that Article 370 was the hurdle in grant of citizenship rights to refugees from West Pakistan. It had snatched the women of the erstwhile State of their rights on marrying outside Jammu and Kashmir. When Art 370 existed, people living along International Border and LoC were treated differently in matters related to grant of some concessions, he added.
“The abrogation of Article 370 paved way for complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India with the scrapping of separate Constitution and Flag”, Balbir said and added that the National Flag got full honour here only after August 5, 2019.
He reminded the Congress leaders that after the reorganisation of the State into UTs, there has been almost no incidence of stone pelting and Friday strikes, which had become a routine in the past with fear and a sense of insecurity among the people but now peace is fast emerging, with no place or scope for violence and the UT has been put on the path of development and progress. The Congress should accept these realities, he said, adding that the biggest gain of the repealing of Art 370 has been end of secessionism and sidelining of separatists.
