SAMBA, July 1: Up in arms against the non- implementation of One Rank One Pension, Congress today held a strong protest demonstration at Vijaypur today.
Led by former ministers and senior Congress leaders Raman Bhalla, Sham Lal Sharma and Manjeet Singh, a large number of people including ex-servicemen assembled at Vijaypur Chowk where they held massive demonstration in the middle of the Jammu- Pathankot highway for about half an hour. A large number of vehicles remained stranded on the highway and massive traffic jam was created.
While addressing the protesters, former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma said that the during Lok Sabha poll campaign, BJP asserted that it will  allow One Rank, One Pension (OROP). But it has failed to implement the scheme. He said the ex-servicemen today find themselves cheated. The policies of NDA Government are anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-youth and anti-ex servicemen, he maintained.
“The Union Government must immediately implement One Rank One Pension for the ex- servicemen.  They are the people who selflessly served the nation,” former minister Raman Bhalla said while speaking during protest.
Former Minister and general secretary of  PCC, Manjeet Singh said that the ex- servicemen have expressed concern over the “delaying tactics” of the NDA Government in implementing the OROP. If the demands of the ex-soldiers were not accepted by the Modi Government, we would be forced to intensify the agitation, he said.
Senior Congress leader and former Minister Mula Ram, senior Congress leader and District  president Prakash Sharma, Subhash Baghat, Kumer Singh, Santosh Kumari, Babal Gupta and Sandeep Sharma among others were also present.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the State Governor through the Deputy Commissioner Samba, demanding implementation of One Rank, One Pension scheme and adequate compensation/ relief  to the farmers.
