Cong leader’s house attacked

Srinagar, Nov 26: Militants today attacked the house of senior Congress leader Imtiyaz Ahmad Parrey in Hajin locality of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Sources said that militants lobbed a grenade and fired around 10 rounds towards the house of Imtiyaz Parrey, who is son of counter insurgent Kuka Parrey and Bandipora district president of Congress party.
They said that the grenade was hurled from back side of the house, but it exploded outside.
“The CRPF guarding the house also fired few shots in retaliation,” they said. However, there was no loss of life.
Police said that there are some bullet marks on the back side of the house and added that police have registered a case and are investigating.
In the meantime, security forces today resumed search operation in Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district after fresh inputs about presence of militants in the area.However, there was no contact with militants.

He said that the operation was spread to adjoining areas including the forests. He added that during the operation, the joint team fired some aerial shots but there was no response from militants.
And in view of the shutdown called by separatists, the district administration today decided to impose restrictions on Monday in Srinagar parts falling under the jurisdiction of seven police stations.
An official said that restrictions will be imposed on Monday in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of five police stations including Rainawari, Safakadal, Nowhatta, Khanyar and M R Gunj.
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest today, a day ahead of the protest shutdown call.
A spokesman of the outfit said that a posse of policemen arrived at the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz and placed him under house arrest.
The detention comes a day ahead of the protest shutdown called by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
Shutdown has been called as a mark of solidarity with Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jail, in and outside the State.
