Cong leaders appeal migrants to vote for Hilal

JAMMU, June 17: A meeting of JKPCC Migrant Cell was held here today at PCC Headquarters Shahidi Chowk Jammu, as a part of election campaign of Kashmiri migrant voters in Jammu, which was attended by former Ministers and senior vice president of the party Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister and vice president Raman Bhalla , Kanta Bhan vice president, Congress candidate from Anantnag Assembly bye-elections Hilal Ahmed Shah, general secretaries PCC Vikram Malhotra & Th. Manmohan Singh and the members of Migrant Cell led by Hira Lal Pandita-its Chairman presided over the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion Sham Lal Sharma said that Kashmiri Pandits always supported Congress party. He said, being a well educated community, it should not be misguided by the hollow and false promises of BJP-PDP. He cautioned them against the forces of exploitation, who exploit the people on the name of religion & region for vote bank politics. He urged the migrant voters who are putting in Jammu to reject such forces who create hatred and division among people for their narrow political interests and appealed them to vote in favour of Congress candidate Hilal Shah.
Hilal Shah, Congress candidate from Anantnag Assembly bye-elections in his address made fervent appeal to the migrant voters putting in Jammu to vote for him, in order to strengthen the hands of secular forces in the State. He said that Congress party is committed to honourable and safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. He further said that Congress has stood firmly with Kashmiri Pandit community and is very sensitive to the ordeal that they have gone to for the several years of migration. The unholy alliance of PDP-BJP is against the wishes of the people of both the regions of the State, he added.
Raman Bhalla while speaking also appealed to the migrant voters to cast their valuable vote in favour of Congress candidate Hilal Shah, who is a young and dynamic leader capable of raising the issues of public concern, especially the migrants in a befitting manner.
Hira Lal Pandita in his concluding address assured the Congress candidate and the PCC leadership that they will support Congress party whole heartedly in order to ensure the victory of party candidate Hilal Shah. Earlier Mr. Pandita and other leaders highlighted various problems of Kashmiri migrants such as shortage of rations, drinking water, long power cuts, un-employment and many other burning problems which required to be solved immediately.
