INDORE, Nov 17: Taking a dig at Shivraj Singh Chouhan over his remark that only “brave” people could make announcements as it entails keeping promises, Congress today said the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister was merely making “hollow” claims ahead of November 25 Assembly polls.
“Chouhan used to say that announcements are made by brave persons only, but I believe that a ‘Veer’ (warrior) never makes hollow promises,” Union Minister of State for Power and Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said while addressing a poll meeting last night at Chhavni Chouraha.
Scindia, also the chairman of State Congress’ assembly elections campaign committee, said the ruling BJP government has “ruined” the state during its 10-year rule by patronising corruption.
“The law and order situation in the state has totally deteriorated and nobody, including teachers, RTI activists and even police officers are safe in Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
Referring to a popular proverb on the importance of doing right things at right time, Scindia said, “the November 25 elections is the correct time to dislodge the BJP government for ensuring development”.
Meanwhile, Chouhan, who addressed a poll rally in Chitavad in Indore district last night, said that Congress had become desperate for power.
“The Congress, which is in opposition since last 10 years, is dreaming of winning Assembly polls this time anyhow so that it can loot the state,” Chouhan alleged.
Highlighting his government’s achievements, the chief minister said what the BJP government has managed to achieve in terms of welfare and development in 10 years, the Congress has failed to do so even in the last 50 years. (PTI)
