Cong for supply of subsidized fertilizers to farmers

JAMMU, Oct 19: Senior Congress leader and former MLC, Ravinder Sharma has alleged non- availability of required quantity of fertilizers and quality seeds to farmers în several parts of Jammu province especially în parts Rajouri district and demanded immediate steps în this direction by the Government.
Sharma was apprised by the farming community during his tour of Sunderbani, Kalakote and Nowshera areas about non availability of required quantity of fertilizers especially DAP besides demanding immediate availability of quality seeds of wheat as well as pulses for the season by the department.
The non-availability and shortage of quality seeds and required quantity of fertilizers well în tone to farmers, affects the productions and loss of income to farmers as well as ultimate rise in prices.
He also demanded compensation to farmers în the rice belt of Bimliya, Thangriote and Treyath as huge loss was caused to them during recent rains /hail stones în this belt.
He also expressed concern over lack of any response to the farmers cry about huge loss to the maize crop this year due to a particular insect disease affecting the maize crops and productions în most parts of the area.
The farmers had to spend a lot to spray insecticides but the Government did not render any financial help to the farmers. He demanded compensation for the farmers in the shape of subsidized seeds and fertilizers this season.
