Cong creates uproar in RS over alleged abduction of its MLAs in Gujarat

NEW DELHI :  The Congress today created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha over alleged abduction of its MLAs in Gujarat forcing a brief adjournment of the House.
Congress Members raising slogans, including ‘Lok tantra ki hatya band karo’ (stop murder of democracy), entered the Well of the House forcing Deputy Chairman P J Kurien to adjourn the House for 10 minutes till 1140 hrs.
Raising the issue, Madhusudan Mistry of the Congress said, “Our Gujarat MLAs are  being kidnapped and offered money”.

To which Prof Kurien replied that the issue was already raised on Friday so he was not allowing Rule 267 in this regard and asked for the  proceedings of the Zero Hour. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the people of Gujarat were  severely affected by the flood but their MLAs were “enjoying at a holiday resort”. “It is the Congress which had abducted its own members,” Mr Naqvi said. The Deputy Chairman said that the government was ready for a discussion and Mr Mistry should give a separate notice for this.   Prof Kurien said that there were several candidates who have given notice for Zero Hour. “What about their rights,” he asked.
Amid sloganeering Prof Kurien asked Deputy Leader of the Congress Anand Sharma to tell his party members to go back to their seats and let the Zero Hour begin. With the Chair’s repeated pleas falling on deaf ears, the Chair adjourned the House for 10 minutes till  1140 hrs.
