JAMMU, Apr 26: Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary, Shahnawaz Choudhary has condemned the closure of the Department of Gastroenterology in Super Specialty Hospital Jammu.
In a press statement here Mr Choudhary demanded the maintenance of status quo and resuming the working of the department at the earliest as the patients across the State are suffering due to the closure of the said department.
Shahnawaz alleged that Minister for Health and Medical Education Ch Lal Singh has ordered to close the sanctioned & fully established department of Gastroenterology at SSH. Ch asked that what is urgency to shift the furniture & equipment from Super Specialty to GMC in the manner it was done by them. He further added that Ch Lal Singh, the Health Minister has closed established Department of Gastro & merged it with Medicine Department which is not a good step towards the affairs in the Health Department.
The Congress leader added that the people are suffering due to immediate closure of the department and it is very unfortunate that a fully established department in a hospital is being closed like this. Choudhary demanded resumption of working of the said department in the Super Specialty and also the reasons to be disclosed as to why the department is being closed like this.
