Cong candidate among 8 more file nomination papers

KATHUA, Mar 27: Congress leader Choudhary Lal Singh was among eight candidates who filed their nomination papers for Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary seat on last day of filing papers today.
Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency will go to polls on April 19.
Lal Singh submitted his papers in the office of the Returning Officer in Kathua.
Others who filed their nomination papers included the ‘cover’ candidate for Congress’ Divya Suraj Partap Singh, Balwan Singh of one faction of the NPP, Rajesh Manchanda of Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party, Sachin Gupta from Inqilab Vikas Dal, Manoj Kumar from Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal and Independents Mehraj Din and Pankaj Sharma.
With the filing of nomination papers by eight candidates today, the total tally of candidates contesting from Udhampur has gone up to 15. They include Union Minister and BJP candidate Dr Jitendra Singh and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) vice chairman G M Saroori.
The last date for filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections ended today. Scrutiny of papers will be held on March 28, while a candidate can withdraw his/her nomination before 3 pm on March 30.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency Dr Jitendra Singh has disclosed his movable assets worth over Rs 3.33 crores and immoveable worth Rs 3.71 crores while his wife’s movable assets are worth Rs 88.88 crores and immovable valuing Rs 66 lakhs. Dr Singh posseses 40 Tola gold while his wife 50 Tola. He has shown his income as Rs 33.17 lakhs and his wife’s Rs 5.73 lakhs as per IT returns filed for the last financial year.
Congress candidate, Ch Lal Singh who filed his nomination papers for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency today has disclosed his own income as Rs 4.55 lakhs and his wife’s Rs 16.74 lakhs. He has shown immovable assets including land worth over Rs 1.50 crores and on the name of his wife worth Rs 53 lakhs besides inherited property worth Rs 90 lakhs and Rs 50 lakhs, respectively. He has revealed in his papers that he posseses 150 gms gold worth Rs 9.45 lakhs while his wife 600 gms valuing Rs 37.80 lakhs. The loans/ liabilities have been put at Rs 25.34 lakhs. The value of moveable assets/vehicles have been put at Rs 26.53 lakh and Rs 73.60 lakhs, respectively by the both.
DPAP candidate from Udhampur, Ghulam Mohd Saroori has shown immovable assets worth Rs 44.46 lakhs on his name and Rs 28.27 lakh including 50 Tola gold on the name of his wife. Besides this, he acquires land worth Rs 49 lakhs and Rs 1.35 crore in Kishtwar area and his wife land worth Rs 84 lakhs. He also possess shops and a house at Kishtwar valuing worth 5.19 crores. He has shown inherited assets worth Rs 49.05 lakhs and self acquired valued at Rs 4.70 crores.
The BSP candidate from Udhampur-Doda constituency, Amit Kumar has disclosed his assets including cash deposits in bank worth Rs 15,000, land worth Rs 50 lakhs and a motor-cycle worth Rs 1.55 lakh while filing his nomination papers.
Independent candidate, Swarm Veer Singh Jaral, an M.Tech from SMVD University has shown his income as Rs 3.85 lakhs and Rs 2.10 lakh cash deposits in bank, whereas, another Independent candidate Mohd Ali Gujjar has shown cash deposits worth Rs 3.50 lakhs on his own name while Rs 30000 on the name of his wife. He has also shown total 30 Tola gold in their possession, besides 5 kanals land worth Rs 12 lakhs and a residential building worth Rs 85 lakhs.
