JAMMU, Sept 26: Senior vice president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and former MP, Dharma Pal Sharma said that Congress Party can frame Government at its own if both factions of the Congress Party get united in the State.
Admitting this hard fact of factionalism prevailing in the Pradesh Congress cadre, top PCC leader said Congress can emerge much stronger than any other regional party (NC, PDP) in the State, provided both groups led by Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad get united and work together. He said no doubt with the efforts of Mr Azad the Congress emerged as stronger and an era of massive development was witnessed, yet factionalism is the major evil which is eating to the party in the State.
“If the factionalism goes off and both the groups get united after sinking their differences, if any, Congress can come out as single largest party in the State in coming Assembly elections,’’ Mr Pal maintained.
He further said that Local Bodies elections are coming nearer in the State and the acid test can be witnessed during these polls, if something positive happens on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He said Mr Azad has strong hold in all the regions of the State and capabilities and sincere efforts of both these top leaders (Soz & Azad) can create wonders here.
The senior PCC leader urged the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to intervene personally and help JKPCC to settle this issue for the bright future of the Party. Mr Pal at the same time, demanded three regional committees of the Congress Party for Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu separately with full powers.
