LEH, Feb 17: Following the Governor decision to keep the Ladakh Divisional Headquarter on rotational basis in Leh and Kargil, a war of words started between District Congress Committee (DCC) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led Hill Council.
Addressing a press conference, former MLA Tsering Samphel flanked by Ex-MLC Norboo Gyaltsan and Seva Dal President Tashi Tseppel alleged that it is the failure of Hill Council Chairman Jamyang Tsering Namgyal which resulted in Governor decision to change SRO-110 to make Divisional Headquarter on rotational basis in Leh and Kargil.
“By declaring headquarter on rotational basis for Leh and Kargil by the Governor administration, the innocent people of Leh District have been humiliated, disgraced, disappointed, disheartened and rendered all disillusioned” alleged Congress leaders.
He further alleged BJP party led by CEC JTN misused the Divisional Status celebration platform attended by different political parties by exploiting the public gathering. He demanded apology from Hill Council Chairman to the people of Ladakh for failing to protect the headquarter in Leh viz his resignation.
Meanwhile in response to the press conference of Congress, Hill Council Executive Councillor (EC) for Agriculture Phuntsok Stanzin flanked by EC Health Tsering Sandup and Councillors Lobzang Nyantak and Sonam Norbu condemned the misleading statements issued by the senior Congress leader Tsering Samphel and Norbu Gyaltsan demanding apology and resignation from Hill Council Chairman Jamyang Tsering Namgyal from the post of Hill Council.
“Governor SP Malik has already announced a joint headquarter or Divisional Commissioner of Ladakh for both Leh and Kargil which means for whole Ladakh region”, Stanzin said, adding that the Divisional Status for Ladakh region is achieved by the people of Ladakh under the leadership of LAHDC Chairman Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
He demanded apology from the Congress party senior leaders to the people of Ladakh and Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for humiliating the dignity of LAHDC Leh chair by issuing misleading statements for their narrow political gain.
Responding to a query over misusing celebration platform, EC Stanzin said that celebration was organized by BJP party only and no other political parties were invited except public and different society representatives.
