LEH, Jan 29: A daylong conference on “Role and Responsibility of Films and Film Makers in preservation of Art, Culture and Language” organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Academy in collaboration with Ladakh Media and Cultural Society was held at Lotsawa auditorium J&K Culture Academy Leh.
Chairperson of the first session Sonam Wangchuk, Director SECMOL gave a brief account about the history of the emergence of syllable and then citing the example of the saying ‘written medium is never a strong medium than a spoken medium’ talked about the importance and effects of films on a society.
Earlier, Special Officer for Culture J&K Cultural Academy Leh, Tsewang Paljor talking about the importance of supporting and appreciating the efforts in general and creative work in particular told about the objective of conducting this conference.
In the second session, Councillor Upper Leh Ven Lobzang Nyantak talked in detail about the difficulties of writing of scripts. He further mentioned about the importance of making society oriented films where there is a lesson to be taught.
On the occasion, Padmashree Morup Namgyal talked about the major effect of improvement in Ladakhi language through films. He further suggested for a five minute glimpse of history or personality sketch of famous personalities of Ladakh like Bakula Rinpoche in-between films.
Chairperson of the second session Tsewang Norboo echoing the words of the experts talked about the importance and positive role films can play in a society and further talked in detail about the important role of media as the fourth pillar.
Earlier, in the first session, Advisor Ladakh Media and Cultural Society (LMCS) Leh Tsetan Angchuk talked about scripting and story writing, Advisor LMCS Jigmet S Angchuk about film making as a whole, Stanzin Gya on documentary films and Nawang Rinchen Wachar on music in films.
