Confederation protests for implementation of Presidential Ordinance on reservation

JAMMU, Mar 10: SC/ ST/ OBCs today protested for immediate implementation of Presidential Orders on promotion to the State employees which has been consented by President since March 1, 2019, enhancement of Reservation from 2 percent to 27 percent for OBC and clearance of pending backlog of one lakh posts of SC, ST & OBC youth in J&K.
The protest was organized under the banner of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, led by State president R K Kalsotra, who raised the issue of delaying the implementation of Promotion orders in favor of SC/ST employees.
The Confederation threatened to hold Maharally on March 17 at Jammu if their demands are not conceded. They also submitted a memorandum of demands, addressed to the Governor.
Mohd Shafi Bajjad, I/C protest for Jammu District, demanded immediate implementation of Mandal Commission report and enhance 27 percent reservation for the deprived OBC population of the State. He stressed upon the Government to revisit Reservation policy of the State and before implementing 10 percent Reservation to General category poor, first enhance OBC Reservation. He also demanded OBC certificate instead of OSC in the State.
Ashwani Bhagat, Coordinator, National SC/ ST / OBC Students and Youths Front (NSOSYF), said that many times they put forth the demand of SC, ST, OBC youth for filling pending backlog of one lakh and advised the Government to act upon their demands as early as possible.
Other who spoke, included Aslam Kohli, A N Bhagat, Shashi Syal, Sarfraz Chouhan, Hurdutt Saryara, Sham Lal Bhasin.
