JAMMU, Aug 22: All India Confederation of SC, ST, OBC Organizations met LG Manoj Sinha and discussed demands and greviances of SC, ST and OBCs of J&K UT.
The delegation consisted of RK Kalsotra, State President of the Confederation; Adv Rohit Verma, General Secretary and Ch Shafi Bazad, District President Jammu.
Mr Kalsotra said that the meeting with LG was a successful one as he listened patiently to all the demands raised by the confederation in the memorandum and agreed to address them.
Demands raised during the meeting, included, reservation in promotion retrospectively since 2015, implementation of Mandal Commission report for 27 percent reservation for OBC’s, clearance of backlog of one lakh job posts, implementation of reservation in Excise policy licenses, implementation of Forest Rights Act immediately and implementation of SC/ST Atrocities Act effectively among others.
Kalsotra said that the increase in the share of reservation for OBCs from 2 percent to 4 percent was step in the right direction but considering the population of OBCs in the UT, the 10 percent pending reservation should be given to OBCs till the time Mandal Commission Report is fully implemented at par with national level reservation of 27 percent.
Kalsotra also drew attention towards long pending demand of the people of J&K to have Ambedkar Bhavan in the UT on the lines of the Ambedkar House in New Delhi. Similarly, Kalsotra also demanded the representation of SC, ST, OBC in the various constitutional and statutory bodies and their attached departments, including judiciary, for addressing the grievances of vulnerable sections via policy making. Pointing out that the Director office for National Commission for SC, ST was not presently in the UT, Kalsotra demanded their functioning offices in the UT for ease of people. He demanded that SC/ST Atrocities Act should be implemented in its true spirit so that people get justice.
Kalsotra also mentioned that the Confederation is going to hold mega Save Rights Sammelan in coming months and LG granted his augustus presence in the same, whenever the logistics for the same are put in place.
