This refers to the news item’Lecturers Forum lists demands,suggestions to BOSE Chairman’ (DE, Feb15,2016).It is heartening that a delegation of Plus 2 Lecturers’ held discussions with the BOSE Chairman and Secretary for the smooth and fair conduct of forthcoming 10th and 12th exams.As both these exams are among the important exams in the life of students,the Board needs to take every measure to ensure that these exams are conducted in a proper and smooth manner. It is imperative that during the conduct of examinations adequate no of security personnel are deployed, especially at the centres where reports of mass copying or other unfair means are frequently reported.In the absence of proper security, Supervisory staff is sometimes intimidated and threatened and in some cases manhandled.The government ought to provide every facility and congenial atmosphere for invigilators and the candidates for the smooth conduct of these examinations.There is also need to install CCTVs in the Exam Halls for the proper conduct of exams.More Vigilance/Flying Squad Teams etc mainly comprising senior and experienced officers from the Education Department, who are well versed with the smooth conduct of these exams,need to be constituted for effective inspection and monitoring of exams.
The Government ,on its part,should also ensure that no post of teaching staff is kept vacant in any school so that the students can complete the whole syllabi in different subjects in time and prepare well for the exam. Paper setters,Head examiners and sub examiners too must be imparted training in order to ensure that students donot suffer on account of wrong/ambiguous questions in the papers or faulty evaluation. More evaluation centres need to be established at district level to expedite the process of evalution and timely declaration of result. Handsome remuneration should be provided to the staff engaged in supervisory and evaluation duties.The Board deserves appreciation for introducing the facility of online submission of application for getting xerox copies of evaluated answer scripts and online submission of Examination forms of private candidates should also be introduced as a candidate- friendly measure.
