Conduct enquiry into Rs 61 lakh loss suffered by JK Cements: PUC

SRINAGAR, Aug 7: Taking serious note of the losses of Rs. 61.16 lakh suffered by JK Cements Ltd in 2005, the Chairman of Public Undertakings Committee (PUC) asked Managing Director of the organization to enquire the mater and submit its report within a month to the Committee.
The Committee met under the chairmanship of Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari and reviewed the functioning of JK Cements Ltd and the pending Audit para for the 2009-2010 here today.
Legislators, A. G. Sofi, Pir Afaaq Ahmad, Dr Shafi Ahmad, Er. Rasheed, Ali Mohammad Dar, Indu Pawar, Gh. Nabi Monga, Principal Accountant General, Managing Director, JK Cements Ltd were present on the occasion.
The Committee had threadbare discussion on the functioning of the JK Cements Ltd while the audit para pertaining to the losses of Rs. 61.16 lakh suffered by the organization in 2005 remained in focus in the meeting.
The Committee said that it is a serious issue and asked the Managing Director to enquire the matter and find out as to how the organization suffered such huge losses. MD was directed to submit the report to the committee within one month so that further action in the case will be taken accordingly.
The Committee instructed the Assembly Secretariat to make sure the presence of Chief Engineers of all engineering wings of the state in next meeting.
