Srinagar, Nov 23: A delegation of Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh (RKMM) today said that the Government should declare the recent snowfall natural disaster and ease out ways of getting KCC loans for the farmers who are already suffering, while terming the condition of farmers as awful.
On the invitation of the J&K president, RKMM Tanveer Ahmad Dar, the member delegation consisting of farmer leaders Shiv Kumar Kakkaji, J K Patel, and Abhimanyu Kohar came to Kashmir to access the condition of the farmers.
As per the handout, the delegation visited villages like Pandit Pora, Aadura, Kurhu, Langate Kargama, Uplina, Kanispora Baramulla, Katiavala, Singhpora, Shakwara, Yaroo Langate and the areas of Tangmarg and met with hundreds of farmers.
While addressing the media person here, Shiv Kumar Kakkaji said that the Government was doing injustice with the local farmers “by implementing different laws in agriculture and horticulture in comparison to other states of India. “Farmers in Valley are facing difficulties in transporting their produce to other State due to bad road connectivity and the transportation charges have doubled in recent days,” he said.
He added that he has not met a single farmer whose apple fruit produce has been purchased by the NAFED, while on the other side the central ministers are “falsely claiming what NAFED is visiting every farmer to purchase their produce.”
Tanvir Ahmad Dar while demanding that the Government must immediately declare recent snowfall as natural disaster said that the Government must effectively provide compensation to the affected farmers. He alleged that the Governent officials were not carrying out proper surveys to access the losses to the apple farmers.
Another member of the delegation, Abhimanyu Kohar said that Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh will organize a press conference on New Delhi on November 26 regarding the condition of the farmers in Kashmir in which farmer leaders from 15 different states will also be present. The Mahasangh is also scheduled to meet the Union Agriculture Minister Narender Tomar and will also demand an immediate relief package for the farmers of J&K.
