JAMMU, July 28: Executive Members of J&K Private Schools Coordination Committee (JKPSCC) has claimed that situation of private schools in J&K is not in very good.
In a press conference here today president JKPSCC, Rameshwar Singh Manhas and working president, Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu said that condition of private schools is deplorable and since the affiliation/recognition process has undergone transition, it has developed more chaos instead of simplifying the process.
“SRO 292 of 2018 incorporates amendments in J&K School Education Rules 2010 and lays down the procedure for inspection and binds the competent authorities with a turnaround time of 75 days,” Manhas maintained adding that the Education Department and JKBOSE have not been able to convene a joint inspection, affiliation/recognition meeting since more than last one year, contravening the SRO, which instructs to conduct the meeting every 3rd Monday of the month.
“JKBOSE has imposed fine on Schools for such delays, wherein Schools have no role in the delays and have no participation to speed-up the process,” he further said.
The office bearers of JKPSCC have appealed to J&K LG to extend the helping hand to the private schools.
They said that automatic enhancement of school fee and annual fee by 8-10 per cent at par with States like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP etc, simplified affiliation and recognition process and minimum 10 years of affiliation/recognition of private schools are the matters that are yet to see light of the day.
They appealed to the Principal Secretary, School Education Department, to resolve the issues of Private Schools and restore confidence in them so that this sector works enthusiastically.
“There would be a peaceful protest after 10 days if the authorities failed to resolve the issues,” they further said.
