KISHTWAR, Jan 10: Expressing their grave concern over increasing traffic accidents on Dachan -Marwah road the people of Kishtwar have blamed the Government for the same.
The residents of the area said that the failure of the Government to construct the road fully and widen it has been the main cause of the problem. They said precious human lives are lost in the accidents on this road every year and despite the repeated pleas to the concerned authorities they have failed to develop this road which is the life line of the people.
The members of civil society Kishtwar in a meeting today led by senior Congress leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari appealed the Governor N N Vohra to look into the matter and release funds for the renovation of this important road which the authorities have failed to construct for years together.
Bhandari warned that in case the further delay on construction of the road, the people of Dachan and Marwah will be forced to take to streets and launch agitation. The demand was also made by local leaders of Dachan. In a statement Ravi Kumar Thakur a social activist and district vice president BJP Kishtwar said that the road has been a death trap and has taken many lives so far but no one listens to the problem.
He also demanded immediate construction of Dachan -Patimohalla road, the work on which is going for over two decades.
Bhandari warned to file PIL on road mishaps in Kishtwar and make Government answerable for the loss of precious human lives if immediate steps were not taken to widen and construct all roads in this hilly belt.
