JAMMU, Feb 6: After completion of basic survey and ground work for the ambitious Master Plan for the greater Udhampur town, Concept Draft Plan has been submitted to the State Government for further action.
M/s Tech Mech International Private Limited, an Ahmedabad based private consultancy, which was hired for the survey, has submitted the Concept Report to Town Planning Organization in Housing and Urban Development Department for further action of the Government in this regard, authoritative sources informed the Excelsior.
The Concept Report visualizes the future planning for Udhampur keeping in view projected population of the town for the next 30 years and fixing of land use for different purposes in the proposed notified area, sources explained.
Main features of the Concept Report for Master Plan include a Housing Colony, Mini Secretariat, Transport terminals, Railway line, Gas pipeline, solid waste management site, additional inhabitation areas near close vicinity of the town and notified jurisdiction etc.
The Udhampur Master Plan will not only avoid haphazard growth of the town but also increase its notified area upto 80 kilometers from Sumbal and Jakkhar in North to Round Mail in South.
According to sources, the Town Planning Organization is all set to further submit the Concept Report to higher authorities in the H&UD Department, which will notify the same for inviting objections from general public and other stake holders, sources further informed.
Before notifying the concept report, sources added, the Housing and Urban Development Department is likely to constitute a high level committee for final review of the draft report by the Deputy Commission Udhampur, Town Planner and others.
The Concept Report by Tech Mech International was prepared after basic survey conducted by the firm and data submitted by various establishments like PWD, PHE, PDD, Health, Education, Railways, Industries, Forest, Municipal Council, Revenue Department etc.
These line departments were directed by the District Development Commissioner Udhampur to submit their respective data to Tech Mech International representatives on a performa prepared for the same.
Even as a few establishments failed to submit the data, the Concept Report was prepared since maximum ground work and survey had been conducted, sources said.
