Comprehensive plan formulated to modernize Balol, Landoi Choi Nallah: Bhalla

JAMMU, Nov 6: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla, accompanied by Minister of State for R&B Javed Ahmed Dar today visited the Bhour Camp and Pamposh Colony in Channi Rama and took stock of the damages to Balol and Channi Rama nallahs caused due to flash floods during last rainy season.
Divisional Commissioner, Pardeep Gupta, Chief Executive Officer Economic Reconstruction Agency Saurabh Bhagat, District Development Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma, besides other senior officers of R&B and ERA accompanied the Ministers.
Interacting with the locals, Mr. Bhalla said that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan for modernisation of Balol and Landoi Choi nallahs in Bhour Camp and Pamposh Colony, for which the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared and submitted to the Planning Department for funding. He said immediately after release of funds, the restoration work on nallahs would be started.
The Minister said that the Government was fully aware of hardships faced by the residents due to flash floods during rainy season. He asked the R&B Department to deploy men and machinery to clear the garbage from Channi Rama nallah to avoid inconvenience to the inhabitants.
Mr. Bhalla asked ERA to immediately prepare the blue prints and make estimates for early start of construction work of edge walls, including slab work on Pamposh Colony nallah.
Listing the measures taken by the Government for providing relief to the people from flash floods in Gangyal area, the Minister informed that the Government has earmarked Rs. 2 crore under State plan for construction of box type culvert and protection walls, adding that the projects was under progress and would be completed by the end of this month.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for R&B Javed Ahmed Dar said that ERA and R&B Department were making all out efforts to create durable infrastructure to improve living conditions in every area of the state. He said under ERA and R&B sectors, there was no constraint of funds in meeting the development related requirements of the people.
Mr. Dar said that the repair of damages caused due to flash floods during rainy season have been prioritized by the Coalition Government. He asked the R&B engineers to complete the macadamization of link roads, main roads in the current suitable season, adding that R&B Ministry is committed to provide better road connectivity to the people of three regions of the State.
