Complete Guni-Halti Morh road

The 12 kilometre long Guni Halti Morh road was slated to be completed in all respects by 2018 which it could not, due to host of reasons. The work on it at an estimated cost at Rs.26 crore, was started in the year 2015 and as of now, work on it is totally abandoned. The reason being the same as we very often get to know – that of non availability of funds but the immediate sufferers are nearly twenty thousand people of the area who have to face hardships especially during rains.
However, there must be some cogent reasons behind stoppage of work looking to the fact that the construction of the road is under Central Road Fund Scheme where with-holding funds is unlikely unless warranted by certain unavoidable reasons. The work was assigned to Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) which further allotted the job to a private company of Panthankot in neighbouring Punjab. The variation in earlier estimates and subsequent reduction of cost from Rs.40 to Rs.26 crore and initial slow pace of work and host of other reasons could have led to releasing funds not commensurate to actual requirements. However, authorities concerned must intervene for early release of funds so that this project lingering on for five years could be completed, now at an early date.
