Sir,
The recent Indo-Pak wars of 1947, 1965 and 1971 to-gether with severe border shelling from June, 1999 to 2006 and intermittent border firing from 2006 to till date have rendered the inhabitants of the villages of Pallanwala area, tehsil- Khour, Jammu educationally, economically and socially very weak. Thus, the situation warrants that these people be extended all possible help.
The main source of livelihood of these people was the big chunk of very fertile and irrigated land, geologically forming a part Sarwal region, bounded on the north by Pallanwala-Akhnoor road and on the south by the Minawar-Tawi. But after the Indo-Pak war of 1971, it has also become water logged by the construction of deep and wide defence channel/trench which caused raising of the water-table of the area. Before the water logging, this fertile and very big chunk of land used to yield three crops in a year and now hardly one crop of paddy is sown which too is grown and harvested if area experiences monsoon rains suitably. Excess of rain destroys the said crop as the land is already water logged. The farmers deserve to be paid the compensation of at least two crops and the matter stands agitated with the SDM Khour. No compensation of the yield of two crops is being paid to the farmers and obviously, the farmers are starving.
Besides, the education of children has been effected. Therefore, the youth of the area deserve reservation in military and para-military forces and other departments of J&K State and Central Government.
The hospitals, schools and offices of revenue officers and SDM in the area lack due infra-structure which ought to be provided on priority basis.
It is, therefore, urged upon the J&K and Central Governments to expedite the process of providing compensation claims of the people living here.
Yours etc…
