Communalism and corruption

M L Gupta
Communalism is worst than corruption said Arvind Kejriwal the Supremo of Aam Aadmi Party formed by him riding over Anna Hazare’s wave against corruption. Obviously he was referring to Mr. Narinder Modi three times Chief Minister of most vibrant Indian State of Gujarat. Labelling of Modi as communalist just  because communal riots had  taken place in Gujarat in year 2002 after a bogie of Karsewaks from Gujarat returning from Ayodhya was burnt at Godra  allegedly engineered by a Congress leader belonging to minority community. The Supreme Court has absolved Modi of all charges whereas those police personnel and a former Minister Maya Kodnani are in jail for their role in Gujarat Violence. Kejriwal a hard headed young man again has tried to provoke Modi by series of stone pelting incidents between his supporters and that of BJP which have erupted when Gujarat police stopped him in holding road shows in Gujarat without prior permission as required under code of conduct for parliamentary elections already announced. It is really a shameful act not only on his part but also on the part of his supporters. Zafar Sareshwala a one time biggest critic of Modi after the said riots of 2002 is now his biggest Muslims supporter. Worst Hindu – Muslim riots had taken place in Gujarat under congress rule in  1969, 1985 & 1987 in which thousands of Hindus & Muslims have been killed. In 1987 there was curfew for 200 days bringing immense suffering to Muslims. Congress  and its allies has already been labeled as most corrupt and level of corruption in congress led UPA rule during last ten years have touched all high like Rs. 1.76 lac crore loss to exchequer in allotment of 2G spectrum and Rs. 2 lac crore loss in allotment of coal blocks. In later case a Congress member of parliament Mr. Jindal has been  favoured by the Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh then holding charge of Coal Ministry.  Kejriwal as Chief Minister of Delhi for 49 days directed Delhi Police (which is under control of Central Govt.) to register an F.I.R against Mukesh Ambani Chairman reliance group and against Union Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily in Collusion for increasing gas prices of Ambani owned Krishna Godavri Oil basin. The Common Man in India has already suffered most on account of rising prices of essential commodities directly  as a result of time to time increase in diesel prices  which effect transportation cost of every commodity. Congress has also been held responsible for flight of Indian money to the tune of Rs. One Lac Crores held by Indians in foreign banks and has been avoiding preparing list of such Indians as well to initiate  steps to retrieve the  amount  which is almost six times the Indian reserves estimated at Rs. 15.65 lac crores. Kejriwal thus knowing that stage is already set against Congress and its allies now wanted to circumvent rising tide of Modi in the race for Prime Ministership. His game plan this time has failed. Further the dictionary  meaning of communalism is government by ideal autonomy. So it is corruption which is worst than communalism. Kejriwal has also said that if he becomes Prime Minster he would get  riot cases investigated. Barring Godra incident  there has been no riot in Gujarat for last ten years where as Uttar Pradesh has witnessed 150 riots in one year governance under Smajwadi Party. Since Congress had been ruling the Country for most of the time after independence except six years remarkable rule of NDA under the leadership of BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee when most of development works in infrastructure and mobile phone connectivity  were initiated  and prices were kept stable. Congress alone can be labeled as Communal force playing communal card for gaining minority votes during election as an Kejriwal at best can be termed an opportunist like some other politician in race for prime minister office. Modi like Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee is unmarried having been down to earth man vending tea in trains must be free from corruption. He has given good governance in his three terms in Gujarat. Surely he would do much better at centre too.  Good Governance should eradicate absolute power, nepotism  favoritism and corruption. In good election system elections should be free of cost for Candidates and parties without any funding from government. This would be possible only when political system in country is reduced to two or three parties and parties are provided time on government mass media free of cost for expressing their manifesto as well for inter party debate. The largest party should rule for all routine matters including budget allocations without bothering for majority. However, two third majority in parliament / assemblies should be sought for all issues of National importance. All those who have disproportionate wealth in the respective state, in the country or abroad should be booked and punished. Rs. One lac crores of Indians stacked in foreign banks should be retrieved. Further all Indians irrespective of their caste, creed  or religion should be treated equally and there should be no communal riot in the country in future. Congress led government in J&K which came to power in 2005 under Gulam Nabi Azad had given to the state Rosini act bestowing ownership rights to occupants of government land.   After Gulam Nabi Azad quit from state politics this act has wrought havoc to the government land in the State even under present National Conference coalition with Congress. There are reports like “CAG unearths biggest ever land scam in J&K”- “Government ignored eviction of unauthorized occupants from 17 lakh Kanal land CAG”. At this rate the entire forests from J&K will vanish in few decades causing worst ever climatic change. Thus a change is needed in J&K too to free the state from corruption & most inefficient coalition government under National Conference led coalition with Congress.
To the detractor of Modi it is suggested that they may take lesson from history of India where infighting among Kingdoms for Supermacy led to thousand years of slavery. They instead of finding faults with Modi should accept him as most popular leader for Prime Minster office. When asked why there are no other candidates in BJP for the office of Prime Minister, Arun Jaitly retorted that there are many but Modi is the most popular. To the communists it is suggested that they should set their house first in order both in West Bengal and Kerala where they were in power since the times  of Mr. Namodri Pad and Jyoti Basu. The communist movement split only after Dange toed  pro congress policy CPI (M) came into being after April 10, 1969 split and won 40 parliament seats in 1965 as against three of CPI.
The CPI (M) led united front won elections in west Bengal held in February 1967 but their government was soon over thrown by congress which let loose tyranny under the Chief Ministership of Siddharnath Shanker Ray. There were frequent army cordons to harass and torture CPI (M) workers in the name of Naxalites.   Therefore communists should reunite and expand their base through out the country  keeping distance from Congress and other opportunist forces. They should realize   that it was disintegration of intellectual and cultural forces after post independence era which led to absolute power and corruption. The vacuum created has been filled by pervasive and vulgar forces of vested interest in politics, bureaucracy and emerging elites in business or industry which have created in nexus where business or industry corrupts the politicians and bureaucrats to gain favours from them like allotment of 2G spectrum, Coal blocks and petroleum blocks earlier exploited by Nationalized companies etc.
