REASI, Dec 29: The committee of officers constituted by District Development Commissioner to examine the revised Master Plan of Katra and physically verify the proposed land use on ground, held its first meeting under chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara.
ACR Tilak Raj Shastri, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, DFO Nadeem Hussain, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Director Tourism, DyCEO SVDSB (OSD) and officers from all 10 departments attended the meeting where a detailed powerpoint presentation was given by Consultant and explained by Chief Town Planner Joginder Singh.
Threadbare discussion was held on land use proposed for civil amenities, industrial development, environmental conservation, development of infrastructure, markets and hotels among other types. The committee will carry out extensive field visits till January 4, 2014 and submit a comprehensive report to the District Development Commissioner for incorporation in or modification of Master Plan based on ground position. Final draft will be submitted to Minister for Housing and Urban Development for further action in the matter.
District Officers have further deputed teams of Revenue, Rural Development, Forests, Agriculture, Urban Development, Tourism Departments and Katra Development Authority for studying all the aspects of Master Plan related to their departments and departmental land so that a comprehensive exercise is carried out for incorporation in Revised Master Plan.
Meanwhile, taking a serious note of constructions along Domail-Katra road, the DDC has issued instructions to the departments for immediately stopping all constructions and erection of hoardings along both the sides of BRO road which includes vast patches of State forest and BRO land. BRO has been directed to demolish the structures raised on land acquired and handed over to this premier road constructing agency.
A team of revenue officers is also being deputed for verification of encroachments on Government/BRO land on this stretch for initiating action against encroachers and erring officials.
