NEW DELHI, Sept 1:
At last. But, the last of August-31st-was not at all ‘August’ in respect of India’s Parliamentary practice as former President Pranab Mukherjee, the Statesman par excellence, bade Goodbye on Monday.
Incidentally, amid the ‘void,’ the official confirmation of the ‘delayed’ Monsoon Session of Parliament came that gave birth to a ‘mixed feeling’-country’s resolve to oust the pandemic and come back to ‘normalcy’, and loss of a world acclaimed Parliamentarian.
The official communique informed that both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha would reconvene the Budget Session from September 14 to October 1, maintaining social distancing, which were cut short by the pandemic on March 23 following the outbreak of the deadly disease before the Covid-19 induced nationwide lockdown.
According to official sources, post Independence, three wars-one with China and two with Pakistan – and also the terror attack on Parliament- had failed to stop the House proceedings and India’s democratic practice, which, were, however, halted by the novel Coronavirus.
“It was definitely a setback to our Parliamentary practice. But, in line with the Unlock 4.0, effective from today, it is also a realisation that India does not succumb to any evil and continues it’s age-old democratic practice,” a senior BJP leader, on condition of anonymity said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, amid the nationwide mourning, steps are being taken for the ‘Last Journey’ with full State Honour of the former Prez, who “could have been PM.” (UNI)
