Comic book ‘Preacher’ to get TV adaptation

LONDON, Dec 5: Comic book ‘Preacher’ is set to get its small screen adaptation with TV network AMC ordering a pilot to the project.

‘This Is the End’ writers-directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will helm the pilot of the project that is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic book series of the same name, reported Aceshowbiz.

“‘Preacher’ has been our favorite comic since it first came out. Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it’s an incredible honour to be working on this. We promise we won’t ruin it,” Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement.

Sam Catlin (‘Breaking Bad’) has written the script and will serve as showrunner. She will also executive produce the show along with Ennis, Dillon, Rogen and Goldberg. “Thanks to AMC for completely losing their minds and letting us do this. I’m so excited to bring Garth Ennis’ bloody, amazing and bloody amazing universe to TV,” Catlin said.

‘Preacher’ follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learnt that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty.

The pilot will be produced in 2015 for series consideration in 2016. Rogen and Goldberg are on board to direct the pilot. (PTI)
