Colleges to reopen subject to DCs’ permission

* One dies, 23 test +ve in Jammu; 150 in Valley

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Sept 10: One person died of COVID-19 and 23 others tested positive in Jammu region while 150 fresh cases were reported in Kashmir today.
Meanwhile, Government today ordered reopening of colleges subject to cent percent vaccination of students and staff.
“Vide Government Order No: 66-JK(DMRRR) of 2021 Dated: 05-09-2021 Higher Education institutions have been permitted to commence with limited in person teaching subject to 100% vaccination of staff and students,” read an order by Sushma Chauhan, Secretary to the Government Higher Education Department.

“Accordingly it is here by ordered that Government Degree Colleges of J&K shall reopen subject to specific permission of the concerned Deputy Commissioners,” the order, read, adding, “Further, Head of concerned Institution must ensure that the guidelines related to social distancing and COVID-19 Protocol are adhered to in letter and spirit.”
Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man hailing from village Bindi in Rajouri district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities in GMC Rajouri today.
Among 23 COVID positive cases reported in the Jammu region, 10 were recorded in Doda district, four Rajouri, three Poonch and two each in Jammu, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Kishtwar districts didn’t report any fresh cases today.
Nineteen persons today recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,23,260 Corona cases.
Among them, 231 are active positives while 1,20,862 have recovered from the virus and there have been 2167 casualties.
Meanwhile Kashmir today reported 150 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 80 from Srinagar, Baramulla 12, Budgam 21, Pulwama 7, Kupwara 9, Anantnag 6, Bandipora 2, Ganderbal 8 and Kulgam 5.
As per officials figures, 72,998 positive cases including 837 deaths and 71,549 recoveries are from Srinagar, 24,054 including 282 deaths and 23,627 recoveries are from Baramulla, 23,335 including 22,986 recoveries and 207 deaths are from Budgam, 15,379 including 15,155 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,281 including 166 deaths and 14,086 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,470 including 16,242 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,668 cases including 9,539 and 101 deaths are from Bandipora, 10,163 including 10,062 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,443 including 11,301 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,602 including 5,539 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 203,393 including 200,086 recoveries and 2,245 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,293 including 1,062 from Kashmir division.
With 142 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 320,948 which is 98.26 percent of the total cases.
