JAMMU, Feb 11: A delegation of J&K College Teachers’ Association (JKCTA), led by its President, Dr Rakesh Jasrotia, called on Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar and projected various issues of college teachers.
The issue of Supernumerary seats of PhD for College teachers in the various departments of University was discussed at length and the VC assured that the issue shall be part of the agenda list to be discussed in the upcoming meeting of Academic Council. The Association also projected the long pending demand of allowing College Teachers to supervise the PhD/M Phil scholars and it was assured that the provision of allowing College Teachers to act as Co-Guide shall be considered for the resolution in the next Academic Council meeting but permission for acting as Guide can be granted once the Higher Education Department assures the stable posting for the College faculty guiding research scholars so the scholars do not suffer because of the frequent transfers.
The other issues discussed during the meeting, included the enhancement of rate of remuneration for Evaluation, re-evaluation and other examination related assignments, enhancement of financial assistance of the Teacher Welfare Fund to 75 percent from the prevalent 50 percent of the total expenditure on ailment of the claimant, supernumerary seats for the wards of College Teachers in the admission to various PG Courses, hassle free Guest House facility in the University Guest House for the College Teachers from peripheral/far flung colleges, Library facility for the College Teachers in JU Central Library, change in Examination Calendar for Winter Zone Colleges for the IVth and VIth semester, preparation of date sheets for various UG examinations after due consultation with the Principals of the colleges keeping in view the Summer/Winter vacations and other holidays in the colleges, timely payment of remuneration for evaluation/ revaluation and other examination related assignments performed by college faculty.
The Vice Chancellor assured resolution of all the issues at the earliest in the best interest of the students and teaching community. Rajani Dingra, Registrar JU; Prof Naresh Pada, Dean Research Studies and Dr Dharminder Mangotra, Joint Registrar(Finance) were also present in the meeting.
The CTA delegation was comprising of Dr Sandhaya, Prof Amit Sharma , Prof Mohd Qayoom, Dr Ritu Dewan and Prof Shweta Choudhary.
