UDHAMPUR, May 7: Protesting against newly introduced semester system in three year General Degree Course, students of various colleges held a strong demonstration and blocked Dhar Road near Deputy Commissioner’s officer, here today.
The protesting students, including girls, raised slogans against the Jammu University for introducing semester system and demanded re-evaluation of their answer scripts of first semester, examination result of which was declared recently.
The protesting students also submitted a memorandum to the District Administration demanding old system of examinations, postponement of second semester exams, introduction of carry on system etc.
Earlier, students of different colleges boycotted their classes and assembled near Industrial Area from where they took out a protest rally towards Dhar Road and reached Shakti Nagar near Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Raising slogans in support of their demands and against the semester system, they held a strong demonstration and blocked the road for more than an hour by staging a dharna there.
The protest dharna was lifted and students dispersed off only after Additional DC assured to apprise the Jammu University authorities of their grievance.
