JAMMU, Nov 25: Dr Sushil Sharma conducted a day medical camp at Hari Prabhu Sanstha, Nagrota Gujroo, Billawer.
Accompanied by a team of young doctors and paramedics Dr. Sharma examined people for prevalence of cardiac diseases and other health ailments.
Over 250 people were screened, evaluated and diagnosed and free medicines were given to the needy.
Interacting with people Dr Sushil said, during winters it is important to know the effects of cold weather on ones body and the risks for ones heart health.
“Elderly and younger people are especially vulnerable in winter months, particularly if the cold causes a drop in their body temperature (hypothermia).Cold weather makes your heart work harder to keep your body warm, so your heart rate and blood pressure may increase because of vasoconstriction and aggregability of platelets. These changes can cause heart problems, especially if you already have a heart condition,” he informed.
He advised people to keep their home warm by maintaining ideal temperature, staying indoors during early morning and late evenings, use a hot water bottle or an electric blanket to keep warm in bed and move around at least once an hour and avoid sitting still for long periods.
