SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Kashmir valley is shivering as cold intensified across the region after decrease in night temperature while as Mughal road remained closed after recent snowfall.
A Meteorological Department official said that Gulmarg recorded coldest night in Kashmir where minimum temperature settled at -6.2 degree Celsius, against -4.6 of previous night while maximum temperature was recorded -0.5 degree Celsius. He said minimum temperature in Srinagar also dipped by several notches and settled at 0.3 degree Celsius, against previous of 2.9 degree Celsius while day temperature was recorded at 11.2 degree Celsius.
Qazigund recorded 10.4 degree Celsius maximum temperature while minimum temperature settled at 2.4 degree Celsius. Pahalgam recorded 8.6 degree Celsius day temperature and night temperature settled at -2.5 degree Celsius, against previous of -0.5 degree Celsius.
Kokernag in South Kashmir recorded 8.6 degree Celsius maximum temperature and 1.9 degree Celsius minimum temperature. The day temperature in Kupwara settled at 13.3 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature settled at -2.4 degree Celsius, against previous of 0.8 degree Celsius.
Leh recorded a maximum of 5.1 degree Celsius while minimum temperature settled at -6.9 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in Kargil was recorded 9.2 degree Celsius while night temperature settled at -6.2 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, one-way traffic plied on Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Leh National Highways today while Mughal road continued to remain close for traffic after recent spell of snowfall, a Traffic Police official said here.
