JAMMU, Feb 3: Col SS Pathania, chief convener and president of the Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) has voiced serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Jammu city.
Expressing deep anguish, he highlighted the alarming rise in criminal activities, which is causing distress among the residents. Once renowned as the City of Temples, Jammu now appears to be transforming into a city plagued by gang wars, daytime lootings, daring thefts, and rampant drug peddling.
Residents of Jammu are increasingly feeling insecure and are demanding swift and decisive action from the authorities responsible for maintaining law and order. Pathania specifically pointed to the role of illegal immigrants, including Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, in exacerbating the crime rate in the region. He warned that if strict measures are not taken urgently, Jammu could witness an irreversible escalation in criminal activities.
He further emphasized that the Jammu region is already grappling with the dual threats of terrorism and narco-terrorism, and the unchecked surge in criminal incidents could lead to catastrophic consequences in the near future. Pathania urged the police and intelligence agencies to adopt a more proactive approach, implementing preemptive measures to curb criminal activities and ensure the safety of the people.
Additionally, he stressed that the administration must take immediate steps to restore public confidence by assuring them of their security and safeguarding their properties. The call for action underscores the growing urgency to reinforce law enforcement efforts and prevent Jammu from descending further into lawlessness.
