JAMMU, Sept 6: The Mahila Morcha of BJP today launched a signature campaign against Congress’ alleged involvement in ‘Coalgate’ scam.
Carrying placards with slogans “Congress hatao, desh bachao”(Remove Congress and save the Country) and “Jab Jab Congress aayi hai, brashtachaar laayi hai” (Whenever Congress came to power, it brought corruption), the campaign was led by Mahila Morcha State President Sakina Bano.
Over 500 people, including women, students and businessmen turned out to pen down their signatures, thus supporting the cause of the Morcha.
“The Morcha has decided to reach the mass across the country with a motive to expose the Congress-led UPA at the Centre for its knee-deep involvement in a number of scams amounting to thousands of crores of rupees, thus causing loss to the public exchequer,” Ms Bano told reporters.
She alleged that the people have been repeatedly misled by the Congress on false promises during elections of bringing revolution in 100 days but after assuming power, what happened is totally opposite.
“It is high time and people should unite with the BJP to register a protest against the Congress and seek the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh besides cancellation of all the 142 coal mine licenses and initiation of an independent inquiry,” she said.
Morcha vice presidents Kamla Gupta and Raj Rani Jamwal, general secretaries, Priya Sethi, Anuradha Charak, Sureshta Jamwal, Sangeeta Gupta, Parveen Arora, Anju Dogra, Saroj Gupta, Vidya Devi, Shashi Gupta, Shanti Devi and Vijay Gupta also took part in the signature campaign.
