SAMBA, May 18: A protest demonstration of J&K Central Non Gazetted Electrical Employees Union was held at Receiving Station Power House Samba today under the chairmanship of its district president, Pradeep Singh Jamwal over the failure of the Government in regularisation of daily rated workers working in department for 15 to 25 years.

Despite working 24×7 as an arm of essential service the authorities are making several excuses for regularization of their services. The district president Samba said that when the whole world is up against the fight for Coronavirus, PDD daily wagers are working in different power houses, Grid Station, Receiving Stations, Sub Stations, Workshops and as Computer Operators, Revenue Clerks, Meter Readers, Line Man along with field staff round the clock to ensure regular power supply to general public.
Despite the fact their services to the society is of utmost value during this Global pandemic situation. The district president said that SE Circle 1st Jammu cleared the DPC in August 2019. The daily wagers are waiting for regularization. The Union welcomed the decision of exemption of PDD over the recent order issued by the Administrative Department PDD Class-IV / 2020 dated 14/05/2020 which stated that district wise vacant posts served for Class-IV category be made available to recruitment under new Company Law. They said vacant posts are reserved for thousands of daily rated workers who have been engaged with PDD and await regularisation for a decade now will be regularize through Service Rule SRO 381.
The Union also said employment rights of various daily wagers whose permanent employment is secure by the SRO 381 of the JK PDD Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The JKCNGEEU also stressed upon the appalling conditions of daily rated workers who under these circumstances of COVID-19 are left unpaid for several months. They urged all daily rated workers to continue their resistance struggle for the insurance of formal orders of regularization of services which had been already cleared by respective DPC’s in 2019.
Those who participated in the protest demonstration included Gurnam Singh Salathia (provisional president) and Surjeet Khajuria (provisional secretary),Shashi Salathia (unit president Vijaypur), Raman Sharma, Vikas Singh, Vijay Kumar, Khosal Singh, Ajit Kumar, Naresh Sharma, Ajay Singh, Rakesh Thappa, Subash Chander, Ashwani Kumar, Surinder Kumar and Girdhari Lal.
