JAMMU, Sept 17: The Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today organized a CME-cum-brainstorming session, which witnessed the participation of Executive Committee and Local Research Committee members along with a team from the Department of Health Research, ICMR, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The visiting team inspected key performance indicators of MRU GMC Jammu and interacted with faculty members and research scholars, who shared their research ideas and success stories.
Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, said MRU has initiated various IEC activities and is functioning as per national standards. He noted the importance of sustained institutional efforts in strengthening research facilities alongside medical education.
Prof Dr Vishal Tandon emphasized the importance of inculcating research culture right from the induction stage of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He highlighted that 20 ICMR projects have been sanctioned at GMC Jammu so far, of which 8 have been completed and 6 published in high-impact factor journals.
Nodal Officer MRU, Dr Jyotsana Suri, underlined that medical institutions achieve true excellence only when patient care and education are complemented by a strong research culture. She added that MRU’s progress is a step forward in making GMC Jammu a hub of innovation and quality research.
