SRINAGAR, Aug 5: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, visited Bhatpora this afternoon to personally convey his condolences to the bereaved family of late Imam and Khateeb of Dargah, Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal, Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui, who passed away on Sunday.
Paying glowing tributes to the late Islamic scholar, Mufti Sayeed described him as a towering religious personality who spent his entire life in the service of the people. “He was a treasure of religious knowledge and in his death we have lost a person of great stature,” he said.
The Chief Minister spent some time with the family members and prayed that theAlmighty Allah gives them courage to bear this loss with patience. He also offered Fateha for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Keeping in view his enormous knowledge in religious matters, the late Islamic scholar had been recently nominated by the Government as Member of the J&K Wakaf Board.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash, MLC, Khurshid Alam, Vice Chairman, J&K Wakaf Board, Peer Mohammad Hussain and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, during his visit.
