JAMMU, Nov 18: In its 5th Academic Council (AC) meeting, the Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) has unveiled a series of significant academic initiatives aimed at enriching the educational landscape.
Chaired by Prof Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor, CLUJ, the meeting, held on November 17, 2023, witnessed unanimous approval for the introduction of Ph.D. programs and Integrated Teacher Education Programs (ITEP) in the upcoming academic session.
A statement said that Prof Bechan Lal extended a warm welcome to the Academic Council members and special invitee, Prof Qayyum Husain, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar, in his opening remarks. Dr Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, presented the comprehensive agenda consisting of 18 items, setting the stage for crucial deliberations.
A pivotal decision emerged from the meeting as the Academic Council green lit admissions to Ph.D. programs across diverse disciplines. This strategic move is poised to create a robust platform for scholars to engage in profound research, fostering contributions to their respective fields.
Furthermore, the Academic Council gave its nod for the commencement of Integrated Teacher Education Programs (ITEP), a pioneering initiative seamlessly integrating teacher education into the academic curriculum. This visionary program seeks to produce highly qualified educators equipped to meet the evolving needs of the education sector.
Highlighting the university’s commitment to quality teacher education, it was revealed that the College of Education at the Cluster University of Jammu received approval from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to initiate ITEP. This accreditation underscores the university’s dedication to delivering teacher education programs aligned with national standards.
All decisions taken during the meeting underwent meticulous scrutiny, either receiving confirmation or endorsement by the relevant academic bodies within the University. Prof Bechan Lal expressed gratitude to the active participation of all Academic Council members.
The meeting boasted a distinguished attendance, including Registrar Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Controller of Examination Dr Sanjay Verma, Dean Research Studies Dr Satinder Kour, Dean Student Welfare Dr Ranvijay Singh, Deans of various Faculties, Principals of Constituent Colleges, and other academicians.
