JAMMU, July 4: Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) held its 4th Syndicate meeting today under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof KS Chandrasekar.
The meeting saw participation from Santmanu, Additional Chief Secretary; Santhosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance; Prof Kavita Shah, VC Siddharth University, UP; Dr Geetanjali Andotra; Dr Rajinder Singh; Dr Romesh Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College; and Deans of constituent colleges including Dr Chander Shekhar, Dr Mohd Zubair and Dr Monicka Sharma.
Joining virtually were Dr Munir Ahmed Mir, Dr GM Lone, Dr Nighat Nasreen and Dr Raif Ahmad Khan, Deans of Cluster University of Srinagar; along with Dr RK Mittal, VC BBA University, Lucknow. Registrar Ankur Mahajan presented items for discussion and approval.
Prof Chandrasekar highlighted developments since the last syndicate meeting including AICTE and NCTE approvals, a mega job fair, revision of PG syllabi, and completion of the UG 7th and 8th semester syllabi. The Syndicate ratified the VC’s actions on multiple items and approved revised J&K reservation rules for UG, PG and PhD admissions.
A major decision was to evaluate end-semester exam answer sheets using coded scripts by eligible evaluators from a panel approved by the Controller of Examinations. A one-time exemption was granted to students with credit shortages below 50% for admission into UG/PG 5th semesters. The Syndicate approved adoption of NET for PhD admissions and introduction of new courses including MPA, MSc Geography, PG Diploma and Certificate programmes in Dogri Translation.
Other approvals included recognition of college faculty as PhD supervisors, collaborations for implementing the fourth year of FYUGP under NEP 2020, and launch of dual degree programmes from 2025-26.
The Syndicate endorsed mercy chances for 2017, 2018 and 2019 batches and proposed new programmes such as MSc (Entrepreneurship) with EDII Ahmedabad, BSc (Nursing), English as minor and Statistics as major and multidisciplinary course at GGM Science College.
Earlier in the day, the 5th Finance Committee meeting chaired by Prof Chandrasekar approved budget estimates, post creation, fee enhancements and audit reports, presented by Nagesh Jamwal, Finance Advisor.
