JAMMU, June 30: Senior Congress leader, Mohinder Bhardwaj today said that closing down of Dogri wing of All India Radio’s news section in Delhi and not touching its Kashmiri wing clearly indicate neither nationalism nor Jammu are BJP’s priorities.
Interacting with a cross-section of Congress workers and supporters here today, Bhardwaj said that closure of Dogri news wing in Delhi when a BJP-led majority Government is in place both at the Centre and Jammu and Kashmir, amounts to betrayal by the party leaders of Jammu people.
“There is a long history of struggle behind inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution and starting of a Dogri news bulletin from Delhi which these BJP leaders both in Delhi and the State have muzzled in a single stroke”, Bhardwaj added.
He demanded that the notification ordering closure of Dogri news section along with some other regional languages should be immediately withdrawn by the Centre. He squarely blamed BJP’s Minister at the Centre Dr Jitendar Singh and its MPs for not resisting this move.
Bhardwaj said that people of Jammu region are incensed with this decision of the Centre and total inaction of the BJP. “Any attempt to hit at Jammu’s interests would be fought back tooth and nail. The Centre must rescind this order and restore status of Dogri news wing failing which people would be forced to hit the roads,” he added.
Terming as appalling Modi’s acceptance of description “Indian Administered Kashmir” in the joint Indo-US statement during his recent US visit, Bhardwaj felt that the lid has been blown off the BJP’s hypocritical approach on nationalism and patriotism.
“By doing so Modi and BJP have stabbed the people more so that of Jammu and Kashmir in the back. This description of Kashmir is also in contravention of the Parliamentary resolution describing Pakistan Occupied Kashmir areas as integral part of India in addition to our part of J&K,” he observed.
The Congress leader appealed the people not to be carried away any more by Modi and BJP’s false propaganda aimed at exploiting their sentiments both on patriotic and religion fronts.
