All the clerical fraternity throughout the State under the banner  of ` Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh  All Departments  Clerical Staff Association   launched four day protest/ strike  programme  from  July  28 to 31 across the State.  Today they had planned mass protest program.    They assembled near Press Colony and held protest demonstration there for some time.  They were demanding removal of pay anomalies.
A huge gathering of clerks assembled  in the Press Colony, Srinagar. State  vice president Jeelani Naik was leading the protest march towards Civil Secretariat. But  the authorities imposed restrictions and  later on the ‘Secretariat Gherao’ was foiled by the Police which arrested at least  one hundred employees and  detained them in different Police Stations.
Naik  while leading the procession laid stress on the fact that Government should remove the disparity/pay anomaly, which is being faced by the whole clerical cadre without any further delay and  the cadre didn’t want to create any inconvenience   for the  public, but they are left with no option but to intensify the agitation against the callous attitude of the State Government towards the clerical fraternity of all subordinate departments.
He claimed that the clerical cadre in all  departments is the back-bone/front line functionary of the State Administration and are performing multiple tasks and are under mental and physical stress as well as to remain at the disposal for round the clock. But unfortunately, our contribution/role always ignored and our genuine issue removal of  pay anomaly/disparity with the clerical cadre has not been resolved since 1992.
Finally, all the leaders while addressing the rally stated that Government should settle the issue without any further delay and to honour/venerate the announcement made by the  Fiancé Minister on  December 25 at SKICC Srinagar as well in State Legislative Assembly during Budget Session, the blind disparity with clerical cadre be removed by way of up-gradation of pay scales as recommended by two Pay Anomaly Committees constituted into the matter.
