NEW DELHI : Delhiites today woke up to a pleasant morning on New Year, with the temperature at 8.8 degrees Celsius, and it is expected to be a clear day.
Fog affected 58 trains though flight operations were smooth.
According to MeT department, minimum temperature was recorded at 8.8 degree Celsius, which was two notches below normal. Though it was partly cloudy in the morning, the weatherman has predicted a clear sky from afternoon onwards.
Visibility recorded till 8.30 AM was 500 metres while the humidity was 94 per cent.
According to a Northern Railway official, services of 58 trains have been affected due to the fog which include 36 trains running behind the schedule by several hours ranging from two to 12 hours.
Railways has also rescheduled departure timing of seven trains and cancelled 15 trains due to the weather condition.
Those trains have been cancelled include Shan-e-Punjab Express, Ludhiana Shatabdi, Kashi Vishwanath Express, Garhwal Express.
Many north-bound trains including Neelachal Express, Brahmaputra Mail, Magadh Express, Bhubaneswar Duronto Express are running late by several hours.
On the other hand, the airport authorities, however, said that the operations were normal and no flights delayed.
“The maximum is likely to settle at 20 degrees Celsius,” the official said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded two notches below the season’s average at 18.5 degrees Celsius while minimum was recorded at 8.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal. (PTI)
