JAMMU, Oct 28: A class 9th student today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the hook of a ceiling fan at his residence in New Plot area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the boy identified as Yuyudusu Sharma, son of Sanjeev Sharma, resident of Prem Nagar, New Plot, was found hanging in his room early morning.
He said preliminary investigations suggested that the boy had committed suicide but the motive behind his taking such an extreme step was not known immediately.
However, he said there was no indication that the boy committed suicide under the influence of the Blue Whale game which was earlier perceived by his relatives and neighbours.
He said the inquest proceedings have been initiated by concerned police in connection with the death of the boy.
