JAMMU, Nov 16: A class 8th student was killed while his elder brother was injured today in a road mishap that occurred under the jurisdiction of police post Parade.
According to a police official, a private bus (bearing registration number JK02AJ-8909) attached to Central University of Jammu this evening hit a bike (registration number JK21D-3891) at Rajinder Chowk near office of Anti-Corruption Bureau, resulting into serious injuries to pillion rider namely Gourav (13) son of Yashpal, resident of Arnia and his elder brother, Happy Kumar.
Both were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Gourav was declared as brought dead by the doctors. However, Happy was responding to the treatment. The body of the Gourav was sent for postmortem.
The Pacca Danga police had registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused bus driver namely Brij Lal of Roop Nagar, Jammu and seized his vehicle. According to the police, the deceased boy was a student of class 8th while the injured is a Government employee.
