CJI to lay foundation stone for new HC complex today

Srinagar, May 13: Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana will lay the foundation stone for the construction of new High Court Complex in Bemina area of Srinagar tomorrow.
He will lay foundation stone for the new High Court complex in presence of Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju, Supreme Court Judges Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Lt Governor J&K Manoj Sinha and Lt Governor Ladakh RK Mathur.
The Court Complex is coming up at a cost of Rs 908 crores on 500 kanals of land. Its foundation stone will be laid tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in Bemina area of Srinagar on Bypass at Rakh-i-Gund Akshan.
The creation of judicial infrastructure on 500 kanals is expected to meet twin objectives of decongesting the Srinagar city while strengthening the judicial infrastructure which will house diverse ancillary legal facilities at one place.
As per the requisition by the department, the additional land is needed not only for the construction of High Court complex but also to develop allied infrastructure like mediation centre, arbitration centre, litigants’ facility, food court, police and security infrastructure, staff accommodation for judicial administration, utility buildings, convention facilities, parking spaces and spaces for fire station.
