MAHARASHTRA: A four-seater aircraft being used for civil aviation training crashed on Tuesday in Pune district, injuring the trainee pilot, police said.
The crash happened near Rui village in Indapur taluka, hours after its take-off from the Baramati-based Carver Aviation academy, police said, adding that a technical snag may have caused it.
A police official said the Cessna 172S Skyhawk (VT- RDX) aircraft, belonged to the aviation academy, crashed on its nose in an open field near Rui village this afternoon.
The academy is yet to come up with its version about the accident.
The trainee pilot, Sidharth Titus, who was flying solo, has sustained a fracture on his right hand, the official said.
Meanwhile, the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has launched an investigation into the incident.
A team of DGCA officials has reached the spot for inspection, the sources said. (AGENCIES)
