Civilian injured in Pak shelling

JAMMU, Oct 16: Pakistan Rangers and army resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing along International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in Hiranagar and Mankote sectors today causing injuries to a civilian.
Reports said the Rangers started indiscriminate shelling and firing at Manyari and surrounding villages along the IB in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district last night and extended it in some areas till early today.

A civilian identified as Ramesh Chander, 48, son of Sansar Chand, a resident of Manyari was injured in the shelling. He has been hospitalized.
Some houses also sustained minor damage in the shelling.
Most of the people in forward areas spent the night in bunkers.
On the LoC, where ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army have become a routine, the enemy troops fired mortars and bullets in Mankote sector of Poonch district at 5.15 am today. The Indian Army retaliated befittingly leading to exchanges that lasted more than an hour.
However, there were no casualties or losses on the Indian side.
