Civilian hurt in blast

JAMMU, Oct 22: A civilian was seriously injured in an accidental grenade blast in his house at Surankote last night. The injured has been identified as Mohammad Imran Khan son of Nasib Ahmad Khan R/o Surankote.
Reports said two brothers of Imran Khan were posted in Territorial Army and that one of them had kept a grenade in the house.
They added that Imran Khan, a shopkeeper, had just returned to his home at Surankote and was fiddling with the grenade when a powerful blast occurred causing him serious injuries. His mother Parveen Akhter, who was also present in the house, had a narrow escape.
Reports said the brothers of Imran, who were working with Territorial Army, were not present in the house at the time of grenade attack.
Police parties headed by DySP Javed Ahmad Mir rushed to the site of blast and shifted the injured to hospital from where he was referred to Government Medical College hospital in Jammu.
SSP Poonch Shamsheer Hussain also visited Surankote this morning and confirmed that Imran was injured in an accidental grenade blast. There was no militant attack on the house, he said.
