JAMMU, Nov 13: Reorganisation of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was among other demands raised by Civic Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) here today.
In a press conference CSKU president, Rinku Gill demanded regularisation of services of 33 drivers of JMC and recruitment of 600 Safai Karamchari to fill the vacant posts.
He also demanded regularisation of 30 Safai Karamcharis who have completed seven years of working with JMC.
Among other demands raised on the occasion was increase in daily wages of JMC workers from Rs. 6700 to Rs. 18000 as per UT grades.
Talking to reporters Gill further demanded 2.5 day salary to sanitation staff barring Sunday from it.
“As most of the field staff of JMC belongs to Christian community and Sunday being auspicious to them should not be included in 2.5 day salary,” he maintained adding that JMC should also provide boots, jacket and uniform to the Safai Karamcharis.
The Union members also demanded release of arrears for 139 Safai Karamcharis regularised on August 26 this year and warned if the demands were not conceded then they will go for strike after Diwali.
